Overnight Green Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head lettuce, cut fine
    1/2 c. chopped green onions
    1/2 c. chopped celery
    1/2 c. chopped green pepper
    1 can English peas (tiny), drained
    3 tsp. sugar
    1 pt. mayonnaise
Preparation
    Spread half of lettuce in 2-quart casserole.
    Add celery, onions, green pepper and peas as second layer.
    Use remaining lettuce as top layer. Mix mayonnaise with sugar and spread over top.
    Refrigerate overnight.
    Before serving, fry 1/2 pound of bacon very crisp and crumble; sprinkle over top of salad.
