Hush Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 c. cornmeal
1 c. flour
1 Tbsp. salt
1 Tbsp. baking powder
2 egg, well beaten
1 1/2 c. milk
1 onion, chopped
hot salad oil

Preparation

Combine dry ingredients; add eggs and milk, stirring well. Add onion and blend (mixture will be thick).
Dip a large spoon into hot salad oil, then into batter for each hush puppy; drop by spoonfuls in hot salad oil.
Cook until golden brown on both sides.
Drain on paper towels.
Makes 3 to 4 dozen.
