Italian Cream Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. margarine
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 c. sugar
    5 eggs, separated
    2 c. all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 (4 oz.) can coconut
    1 c. chopped pecans
    1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
    1/4 c. margarine, softened
    1 (1 lb.) box powdered sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    chopped nuts
Preparation
    Cream margarine and shortening; add sugar gradually.
    Beat until smooth.
    Add egg yolks; beat well.
    Combine flour and soda; add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk.
    Stir in vanilla, coconut and pecans; fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Pour into 3 greased and paper-lined 8-inch pans.
    Bake in a 350\u00b0 oven for 25 minutes; let cool.
