First Prize Winning, 1776 Flag Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. all-purpose flour
    1 2/3 c. sugar
    1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
    1/4 tsp. baking powder
    2/3 c. unsweetened cocoa powder
    1 1/3 c. water
    1 c. mayonnaise
    3 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 can white frosting
    blue food color
    13 miniature marshmallows
    1 1/4 c. cherry bites (1-inch long each)
Preparation
    Place flour, sugar, baking soda and baking powder in the baking pan.
    Sift cocoa powder into pan and stir all together. Add water, mayonnaise, eggs and vanilla to the pan; mix well until all the flour is moistened and batter is smooth.
    Bake for 35 to 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
    Cool.
    Place 1/2 cup of the frosting in a small bowl. Stir the food color into the frosting, a few drops at a time, until you like the shade.
    Spread it neatly in the upper left corner of the cake to make a 4 1/2-inch square.
    Arrange marshmallows in a circle on the blue frosting to make stars.
