Christmas Jam - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (11 oz.) pkg. dried apricots
    1 (30 oz.) can pineapple chunks
    3 1/2 c. water
    1 (8 oz.) jar maraschino cherries
    6 c. sugar
    1 c. chopped nuts (optional)
Preparation
    In large pan, combine apricots, pineapple and syrup, water and cherry syrup.
    Let stand 1 hour, then cook slowly until apricots are tender.
    Add sugar; cook slowly, stirring often, until thick (216\u00b0).
    Cut cherries in quarters; add and cook a few minutes longer.
    Pour into hot, sterilized jars and seal.
    Makes 6 1/2 pints.
