Crystal Cucumber Pickle - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 gal. whole cucumbers
1 c. table salt (not iodized)
3/4 c. alum or 4 oz.
vinegar (to cover use 4 or 5%)
sugar (almost 5 lb. per gallon)
pickling spice (1 box or as desired)*
