Escalloped Oysters - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pt. small oysters
    1/2 lb. saltine crackers
    1/8 lb. butter
    28 oz. milk
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Butter a 2 1/2-quart casserole. Check oysters for shell pieces.
    Layer
    crushed
    crackers,\toysters,
    butter, salt and pepper, about
    2
    or 3 layers. Pour any oyster juice over top. Scald milk.
    Pour over all. Bake in hot oven at 400\u00b0 for 30 to 40 minutes.
    Insert
    knife in center;\tshould come out clean, like a custard
    pie. This can be doubled easily; use a larger casserole.
