Mother'S Lemon Apples - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 whole lemon, sliced paper thin
    juice of 1 additional lemon
    1 c. water
    2 c. sugar
    pinch of salt
    5 Granny Smith apples
Preparation
    Peel apples and slice thin.
    Bring to rolling boil all ingredients except apples.
    Add the apples, stirring carefully to cover with liquid.
    Cook on medium to medium-high until apples are transparent.
    Remove apples with slotted spoon, leaving juice to continue cooking until slightly thickened.
    Pour over apples and allow to cool before serving.
