Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 quarts (16 cups) sliced medium cucumbers
    8 medium white onions, sliced
    1/3 c. pickling salt
    3 cloves garlic, halved
    Cracked ice
    4 c. sugar
    3 c. cider vinegar
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
    1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
Preparation
    Combine cucumbers, onions, garlic and salt in large stockpot. Cover with cracked ice (about 2-inches). Cover and refrigerate for 3 hours. Drain mixture well. Remove garlic. In same stockpot combine sugar, vinegar, mustard seed, turmeric, and celery seed. Heat to a rolling boil for 2 minutes. Add cucumber mixture. Return to boiling.
