Gingerbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. butter
    1 egg
    1 c. molasses
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. ginger
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 1/2 c. sifted flour
    1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1 c. hot water
Preparation
    Cream the sugar and butter.
    Add beaten egg and molasses, then the dry ingredients. Add boiling water last.
    Beat until smooth. Bake in a greased shallow pan at 350\u00b0 for 35 minutes or until cake springs back when touched lightly.
    Very good when served warm with whipped cream.
