The "Aiken" Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 sticks butter
1 2/3 c. sugar
5 eggs
2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. mace

Preparation

Cream butter and sugar; add eggs 1 at a time.
Add flour sifted with mace.
Pour in greased 9-inch tube pan and bake 1 hour beginning in cold oven.
Can be baked as sheet cake with butter icing for teas.
