Ingredients

1 (1 lb.) can sliced beets or 1 quart frozen beets
2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
2 Tbsp. flour
1/4 c. beet liquid from can
1/3 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 c. vinegar
1/2 tsp. salt
a few grains pepper
1/8 tsp. cloves
Preparation

Drain beets; save 1/4 cup of the liquid.
Melt butter or margarine.
Blend in flour.
Add 1/4 cup beet liquid.
Cook stirring constantly, until thickened.
Add remaining ingredients and stir until sugar dissolves.
Add drained beets.
Heat to serving temperature.
Makes 6 servings.
