Italian Style Swiss Steak(Makes 4 Servings) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    15 oz. lean boneless top round of beef, cut into 4 equal pieces
    1 Tbsp. plus 1 tsp. vegetable oil
    2 c. sliced mushrooms
    1/2 c. sliced onion
    1/2 c. sliced carrot
    1/4 c. sliced celery
    1 c. tomato sauce
    1/4 c. dry red wine
    1/2 tsp. dried oregano
    1/2 tsp. garlic powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
    1 c. sliced green bell pepper
    10 oz. sliced all-purpose potatoes
Preparation
    Preheat broiler.
    Broil beef on rack 4-inches from heat 2 minutes on each side.
    Set aside.
    In large nonstick skillet, heat oil.
    Add mushrooms, onions, carrot and celery; cook over medium heat until onions are translucent, about 2 minutes.
    Stir in tomato sauce, wine, oregano, garlic powder, pepper, salt and 1 cup water.
    Return meat to skillet.
    Cover and simmer over low heat 1 hour.
    Add green pepper and potatoes.
    Simmer until meat is tender, about 35 minutes.
