Yam And Carrot Tsimmes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 carrots, sliced
    4 yams, sliced
    1/2 to 1 c. raisins
    3 Tbsp. margarine or chicken fat
    3 tart green apples, sliced and cored
    1/2 c. brown sugar
    1 c. water
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Cook carrots and yams until tender.
    Drain.
    Mix with other ingredients.
    Layer in a baking dish with brown sugar between layers.
    Add water.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes or until apples are tender.
    Remove cover and continue baking until top is golden brown.
    Serves 8 to 10.
