Country-Style Pot Roast - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 to 3 1/2 lb. boneless chuck roast
    1 Tbsp. shortening
    1 envelope onion soup mix
    2 c. water
    4 medium size potatoes, cut into 1-inch cubes
    4 carrots, thinly sliced
    2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
    1/2 c. water
Preparation
    In Dutch oven brown roast in shortening.
    Combine onion soup mix with 2 cups of water.
    Pour over roast; simmer, turning occasionally for 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until tender.
    Or after browning, put into crock-pot until almost tender, then add potatoes and carrots.
    Blend flour and water.
    Stir into drippings where roast was browned and make gravy.
    Serves 6.
