Ingredients

4 Tbsp. butter
3 c. milk
7 Tbsp. baking cocoa
1/2 c. boiling water
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. cornstarch
1/4 tsp. salt
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Melt butter in a small pan.
Set aside.
In a separate pan, warm milk.
Stir cocoa and boiling water together to make a paste, then mix in melted butter.
Combine sugar, cornstarch and salt and add to warm milk.
Add the cocoa-butter mixture and egg.
Cook over medium heat, stirring until thickened, 15 to 20 minutes. Don't let mixture boil.
Remove from heat and mix in remaining butter and vanilla.
