Ingredients

1 c. sugar, divided
1 egg
1/3 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. cinnamon
melted butter
Preparation

Cream 1/2 cup sugar, egg and shortening.
Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg.
Add creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating well after each addition.
Fill 12 greased muffin pan holes 2/3 full with batter.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes.
When done, dip puffs, while hot, in melted butter, then roll into 1/2 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon mixture.
Freezes well.
Serve hot or cold.
