Crystallized Ginger Pickles(Mrs. Buddy Quin) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 lb. cucumbers (after peeled, cored and striped)
    2 c. household lime to 2 gal. of water
    1 box alum to 2 gal. of water
    3 parts vinegar
    1 box pulverized ginger (3 oz.) to 2 gal. water
    3 parts water
    5 lb. sugar
    1 box pickling spice
Preparation
    Use overgrown cucumbers that yellow.
    Soak cucumbers in lime 24 hours.
    Wash.
    Soak in
    alum
    water 24 hours and wash. Soak in ginger water 24 hours.
    Do\tnot wash unless too strong with ginger.
    Just drain
    well.\tCombine vinegar, water, sugar and pickling spice.
    Soak cucumbers
    in
    the solution 4 hours. Then boil 1 hour.
    Stir frequently.
    Seal in sterilized jars.
