Yams And Apples For 50 - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/4 c. brown sugar
    1/2 c. butter
    2 tsp. salt
    1 2/3 c. water
    10 lb. yams, peeled and cooked
    3 lb. apples, peeled
    1/4 c. butter, melted
Preparation
    Combine sugar, 1/2 cup butter, salt and water.
    Bring to rolling boil, stirring constantly.
    Cook 2 to 3 minutes.
    Remove from heat.
    Slice cooked yams 1-inch thick.
    Slice apples 1/2-inch thick.
    Carefully arrange yams and apples in alternate layers in steam table pan.
    Pour over with syrup.
    Top with melted butter. Bake in 375\u00b0 oven for 1 hour until apples are tender.
    May garnish with coconut.
