Mother'S Chocolate Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. sugar
1 egg
2 Tbsp. shortening
1 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
4 Tbsp. cocoa (heaping)
1/2 c. sour milk or buttermilk
1/2 c. boiling hot water
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Blend together sugar, egg and shortening.
Mix together flour, baking powder, soda and cocoa.
Add flour mixture and buttermilk to 1st mixture.
Add 1/2 cup boiling hot water and vanilla. Batter will be very thin.
Bake at 325\u00b0 in glass pan, at 350\u00b0 in aluminum pan, 8 x 8-inches, for 25 to 30 minutes.
Double recipe for 9 x 13-inch pan, but bake perhaps a little longer, 35 to 40 minutes or until cake tests done.
