Artichoke Pickle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 peck artichokes
    5 lb. white sugar
    1/2 c. salt
    3 qt. vinegar
    3 Tbsp. dry mustard
    2 Tbsp. turmeric
    4 Tbsp. mustard seed
    1/2 Tbsp. white pepper
    3 large onions, sliced
Preparation
    Mix all ingredients except onion in a large pot and bring to a boil.
    Pack jars with artichokes and pour hot liquid over.
    Place 2 or 3 onion rings on top of pickle.
    Seal jars while still hot. You can add 1 hot pepper to each jar if you like them hot.
