World War 1 Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. corn syrup
1 c. cold water
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 Tbsp. shortening
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
Preparation

Put first 6 ingredients in a saucepan.
Bring to a boil and cook for 3 minutes.
Add shortening.
Cool.
Add soda that was dissolved in small amount hot water.
Add flour and baking powder and stir until well blended.
Pour into greased tube pan and bake at 325\u00b0 for 1 hour.
