Ingredients

1 1/4 c. butter, softened
2 c. sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. unsifted self-rising flour
3/4 c. cocoa
1 c. finely chopped pecans
2 eggs
Preparation

Cream butter and sugar in a large bowl.
Add eggs and vanilla, blending well.
Combine flour and cocoa and blend into creamed mixture.
Stir in nuts.
Drop by rounded teaspoon onto ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 8 to 9 minutes.
Do not overbake. Cookies will be soft.
They will puff during baking and flatten upon cooling.
Cool on sheet until set, about 1 minute.
Yields 4 dozen.
