Favorite Family Recipe - Christmas Stollen - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 pkg. active dry yeast
    1/4 c. warm water
    1 1/2 c. milk
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. butter
    2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
    3 eggs, beaten
    1/2 tsp. ground cardamom
    1 c. dark raisins
    1 c. diced citron
    1 c. sliced candy cherries
    about 4 c. sifted all-purpose flour
Preparation
    Soften active dry yeast in warm water.
    Scald milk in sugar, salt and butter; cool to lukewarm.
    Mix in 2 cups flour, yeast, eggs, cardamom and fruit.
    Add enough remaining flour to make a stiff dough.
    Knead on floured surface; place in a greased bowl and grease top of dough.
    Cover.
