Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 qt. sliced cucumbers (not too large)
    3 medium onions
    1/2 c. salt
    3 c. vinegar
    1 c. water
    1 c. brown sugar
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. ginger
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    1 Tbsp. turmeric
    1/2 Tbsp. celery seed
Preparation
    Mix cucumbers, onions and salt; let stand for 1 or 2 hours. Rinse and drain well.
    Let stand for 5 hours longer.
    Drain, but do not rinse.
    Boil vinegar, water, sugar and spices for 3 minutes.
    Add cucumbers and onions and simmer 10 to 20 minutes (do not boil).
    Pack into jars and seal at once.
