Layered Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head lettuce, torn
    1/2 c. diced celery
    1/2 c. diced onion
    1/2 c. diced green pepper
    1 can water chestnuts, sliced
    1 pkg. frozen peas, rinsed in cold water
Preparation
    Put ingredients in layers.
    Lettuce in the bottom and peas on top.
    Spread 1 pint mayonnaise on top.
    Sprinkle with 1 or 2 tablespoons sugar.
    Cover with Romano or Parmesan cheese.
    Garnish with crumbled bacon or Bac*Os.
    Make 24 hours in advance.
