Red Cabbage - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 medium red cabbage, finely shredded
    3 slices bacon
    2 Tbsp. vinegar
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 tart chopped apple
    1 small onion
    few dashes of pepper
    1 tsp. caraway seed
    1 tsp. salt (optional)
Preparation
    Saute bacon and chopped onion in bacon fat.
    Do not drain. Mix all ingredients and cook on very low heat (in heavy bottom pot or kettle) for about 1/2 hour.
    Very good with pork chops, ham or fried chicken.
    Makes 5 servings.
