Pickled Eggs - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 doz. eggs
    1 c. cold water
    1 bay leaf
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 c. tarragon vinegar
    1 c. sugar
    6 whole cloves
    1 onion, sliced
Preparation
    Boil eggs.
    Drain immediately and run cold water over eggs. Peel eggs and place in narrow, deep jar.
    In medium saucepan, combine all other ingredients except sliced onions.
    Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes.
    Place onion slices on top of eggs; pour hot vinegar on top of eggs, making sure they are completely covered.
    Cover tightly; refrigerate for several days.
