Pain Francais(French Bread) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/4 c. warm water
    1 pkg. yeast
    1/2 Tbsp. salt
    1/2 Tbsp. melted shortening
    3 1/4 c. sifted flour
    1 egg white
    1 Tbsp. cold water
Preparation
    Measure warm water into large mixing bowl; sprinkle in yeast to dissolve.
    Add salt, shortening and flour, stirring until well blended.
    Dough will be slightly sticky.
    Place in a greased bowl; turn to grease top.
    Cover and let rise 12 hours, or until double in size.
    Form long loaf.
    Bake at 450\u00b0 for 25 minutes.
    Brush with egg white mixed with water.
    Reduce temperature to 425\u00b0. Bake for 5 minutes longer on bottom shelf.
    Makes 1 loaf.
