Bean Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    assortment of beans: pinto, red kidney, lentils, small white beans, green split peas, pearl barley, lima beans, black-eyed peas
    ham hocks
    1 Tbsp. salt
    2 qt. water
    1 large onion, chopped
    1 large can tomatoes
    1 tsp. chili powder
    juice of 1 lemon
    salt, pepper and garlic powder to taste
Preparation
    Wash beans.
    Add salt.
    Add water and soak overnight.
    Drain the beans.
    Add 2 quarts of water and ham hocks.
    Bring to a boil. Simmer 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
    Add onion, tomatoes, chili powder, lemon juice, salt, pepper and garlic powder.
    Simmer another 30 minutes.
