Crisp Pickle Slices - cooking recipe
Ingredients

4 qt thinly sliced unpared cucumbers
1/3 c coarse medium salt
3 c sugar
3 c vinegar
1 1/2 tsp turmeric
1 tsp mixed pickling spice (tied in a cheese cloth, bag)
Preparation

Mix in alternate layers cucumbers, salt and ice. Let stand for 3 hours. Drain, combine sugar, vinegar and spices. Heat to a boil. Add cucumbers and let them get hot. Pack, sterilized jars. Let syrup mixture continue boiling. Pour over cucumbers and seal. Makes about 6 pints.
