Jumbo Gumbo Soup - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 whole broiler-fryer chicken
6 c. water
1 medium onion, sliced
6 celery tops
1 1/2 tsp. Accent
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
3 Tbsp. margarine or butter
1 medium onion, chopped
1 bay leaf
3/4 tsp. dried leaf thyme
1 1/2 tsp. monosodium
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 green pepper, chopped
1 c. sliced celery
2 Tbsp. flour
2 (1 lb.) cans tomatoes
1 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen okra, thawed
Preparation

Heat butter in deep kettle.
Add onion, green pepper and celery.
Cook, stirring occasionally, about 5 minutes.
Blend in flour.
Gradually add reserved stock and cook (stirring occasionally) until mixture comes to a boil.
Add remaining ingredients, except okra.
Bring to boil.
Reduce heat; simmer one hour.
Add okra and reserved chicken pieces.
Simmer until okra is hot.
