Candy Cane Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/2 c. butter
    1 c. sifted powdered sugar
    1 egg
    1 1/2 tsp. almond extract
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. red food coloring
Preparation
    Mix shortening, butter, sugar, egg and almond extract.
    Mix in flour and salt.
    Divide dough in half; mix red coloring into one half.
    Dip out 1 teaspoon of each color; roll into ball and roll into 4-inch strip.
    Twist together and crook top.
    Bake 7 minutes in a 375\u00b0 oven.
