Sweet Cucumber Pickles(Superb) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    16 lb. cucumbers
    1 gal. vinegar (red)
    10 lb. sugar
    1 small box pickling spice
    salt (enough to float an egg)
    1/2 small size box alum
Preparation
    First Step:
    Wash and slice cucumbers in the usual eating size.
    Soak in brine for 14 days.
    Prepare brine in a churn or large glass jar.
    Fill with cold water and dissolve salt in water to float an egg.
    Place sliced cucumbers in jar.
    Stir from the bottom each day.
