Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe
Ingredients

30 medium cucumbers, sliced
3 medium onions, sliced
2 large red or green bell peppers
1/2 c. salt
5 c. sugar
5 c. vinegar
2 tsp. mustard seed
1 tsp. turmeric
1 tsp. whole cloves
Preparation

Slice cucumbers in thin slices.
Cut peppers in fine strips. Dissolve salt in ice water and pour over sliced rings.
Let stand for 3 hours, then drain.
Combine sugar, vinegar, mustard seed, turmeric and whole cloves.
Bring to boil and then add drained rings.
Heat to boiling but do not boil.
Put in sterilized jars and seal.
