Sweet Pickle Chips - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. whole dill pickles (any brand)*
    4 c. sugar
    8 Tbsp. white vinegar
    1 tsp. alum powder
Preparation
    Drain and rinse pickles. Slice pickles 1/4 to 1/2-inch thick. Stir into sugar mixture. (Do not use metal container or spoon.) Let stand 24 hours at room temperature; stir occasionally. Put into jars and pour juice evenly into each jar. Store in refrigerator one to two weeks.
