Pears In White Wine - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 firm ripe pears
    2 Tbsp. lemon juice
    3 c. dry white wine
    1 1/2 c. sugar
Preparation
    Wash pears.
    Pare and core from blossom end but leave steam intact.
    Brush with lemon juice.
    Combine wine and sugar in large saucepan.
    Bring to boiling, stirring.
    Bring until sugar dissolves.
    Lower heat; add pears.
    Cover.
    Simmer 10 minutes or until tender but still firm.
    Let pears cool in syrup. Refrigerate several hours or overnight.
    Drain pears.
