Kentucky Cream Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. vegetable shortening
    1 stick margarine
    2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 c. coconut
    5 egg whites, beaten
    2 c. sugar
    5 egg yolks
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2/3 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Cream shortening and margarine with sugar.
    Add egg yolks, one at a time.
    Beat well. Add flour and baking soda alternately with buttermilk.
    Add vanilla, coconut and nuts; fold in beaten egg whites.
    Bake in two or three 8 x 8 x 2-inch layers at 350\u00b0 for 35 to 40 minutes.
