Chayote Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    15 lb. chayotes
    4 large onions
    6 red bell peppers
    1 large bunch celery
    1 large cauliflower
    2 lb. carrots
    8 hot peppers (remove seeds)
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    2 Tbsp. celery seed
    2 tsp. turmeric
    1/2 tsp. ground cloves
    5 c. sugar
    5 c. cider vinegar
Preparation
    Peel chayotes.
    Chop first seven vegetables and put in large kettle.
    Put 1/2 cup salt on these.
    Mix well and let stand for 3 hours.
    Mix once or twice.
