Sauerbraten (Sour Beef Pot Roast) - cooking recipe
Ingredients

4 lb. beef (chuck, round or rump)
1 onion, sliced
3 bay leaf
2 tsp. spices
Preparation

Place meat, vinegar, spices and onion in bowl and refrigerate overnight, longer if need be.
Place in iron pot and brown meat on all side.
Meanwhile, strain vinegar and water and pour over brown roast and proceed to cook the same as pot roast (2 to 3 hours). Take meat out and keep warm.
Add raisins and gingersnaps in 8 pot liquid.
Gingersnaps will thicken the gravy.
Add more crackers if you like a thicker gravy.
Slice meat and serve with the gravy. Potato Rolls or noodles and red cabbage.
