Tomato Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. oil
    1 onion, chopped
    1 (28 oz.) can tomatoes
    1 (12 oz.) can tomato paste
    1/2 c. water
    2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. sugar
    1/2 tsp. basil
    1/4 tsp. thyme
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 bay leaf
Preparation
    Brown onion in hot oil.
    Stir in tomatoes, breaking them up with a spoon.
    Add other ingredients.
    Cover and simmer gently for 30 minutes.
