Red Velvet Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    2 oz. red cake coloring
    2 1/4 c. plain flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 Tbsp. vinegar
    1 Tbsp. vanilla
    2 Tbsp. cocoa
    1 tsp. soda
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs.
    Make a paste of red coloring and cocoa; add to creamed ingredients.
    Then add vanilla. Mix buttermilk in same cup where red coloring was mixed.
    Use all clinging coloring.
    Sift flour, salt and soda together and add to mixture.
    Beat well; then fold in vinegar.
    Pour into 2 cake pans lined with greased waxed paper.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 or 30 minutes.
