Vidalia Onion Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. butter or margarine
    4 medium Vidalia onions, sliced into 1/4-inch rings
    15 saltine crackers, crushed
    1 can cream of mushroom soup
    2 eggs, beaten well
    3/4 c. milk
    1 c. grated sharp cheese
Preparation
    Melt butter in saucepan; saute onions over medium heat until clear.
    Reserve 3 tablespoons of cracker crumbs for topping and place remaining crumbs in bottom of lightly greased 2-quart casserole dish.
    Remove onions from pan with slotted spoon.
    Add soup and onions, alternating layers.
    Combine eggs and milk; pour over onions.
    Top with cheese and cracker crumbs.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes or until brown and bubbly.
