Gran'S Easter-Egg Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 envelope unflavored gelatin
    1/2 c. cold water
    6 eggs, separated
    1 1/2 c. sugar, divided
    3/4 c. lemon juice
    1 1/2 tsp. lemon rind
    1 (8 or 9-inch) angel food cake, broken into small pieces
    1 c. heavy cream, whipped and sweetened
    shredded coconut, tinted green
Preparation
    Sprinkle gelatin over water and let soften.
    Blend yolks and 3/4 cup sugar in top of double boiler.
    Add lemon juice and rind and cook over simmering water, stirring constantly (do not let water touch bottom of pan).
    When thick as medium white sauce, remove from heat.
    Add softened gelatin and stir until dissolved. Chill until mixture thickens and mounds.
