Lotsa Layers Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head lettuce, torn
    3/4 c. celery, sliced
    1/3 c. green pepper, chopped
    1 can water chestnuts, sliced
    1/4 c. green onions, chopped
    10 oz. peas (frozen)
    2 c. mayonnaise
    3 Tbsp. sugar
    1 1/2 c. Cheddar cheese, shredded
    1/4 lb. bacon, crisp and crumbled
    2 sliced tomatoes
    2 hard-boiled eggs, sliced
Preparation
    Twenty-four hours prior to eating, make in order by layering lettuce, celery, green pepper, water chestnuts, onions and peas in a bowl.
    Mix mayonnaise and sugar and spread with spatula over top.
    Layer remaining ingredients.
    Cover and keep in refrigerator.
