Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    25 cucumbers
    12 onions
    1 qt. vinegar
    2 Tbsp. celery seed
    2 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    2 Tbsp. turmeric
    1/2 c. canning salt
Preparation
    Wash and drain vegetables.
    Slice cucumbers and onions.
    Soak in salt solution (2 quarts water and 1/2 cup canning salt) for 3 hours.
    Mix vinegar, sugar and spices; bring to a boil.
    Add cucumbers and onions, just to heat thoroughly (until cucumbers change colors).
    Pack hot cucumbers into jars, leaving 1/3 inch space.
    Cover with boiling hot liquid.
    Adjust lids and seal.
