Cinnamon Ring Cucumbers - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    large overripe cucumbers (enough to make 2 gallons after cored and sliced round-wise about 1/4-inch thick)
    2 c. lime
    water
    1 c. white vinegar
    1 small bottle red food color
    1 Tbsp. alum
    10 c. sugar
    2 (10 oz.) pkg. red hots (candy)
    8 sticks cinnamon
    2 c. white vinegar
    2 c. water
Preparation
    Soak cucumbers for 24 hours in lime and enough water to cover. Drain and soak for 3 hours in clean clear water.
    Drain.
    Simmer for 2 hours in 1 cup white vinegar, red food coloring and enough water to cover.
    Drain.
