Holiday Cranberry Muffins(Heartwarming Christmas 1991) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. raw cranberries, chopped
    1/2 c. raw sugar
    2 c. flour
    3/4 tsp. baking soda
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/4 c. sugar
    1 egg, beaten
    3/4 c. buttermilk
    1/4 c. shortening, melted
Preparation
    Let cranberries stand overnight in 1/2 cup sugar.
    Combine dry ingredients.
    Add liquid ingredients all at once.
    Stir until moistened.
    Add cranberries and stir.
    Fill greased muffin pans 2/3 full.
    Bake for 20 minutes at 400\u00b0.
    Yields 18.
