Cranberry Scones - cooking recipe

1 1/2 c. whole wheat flour
1/2 c. unbleached flour
1/4 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. ground cardamom
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
5 Tbsp. cold butter
1/3 c. heavy cream
1/3 c. plus 1 Tbsp. milk
grated zest of 1 lemon
3/4 c. cranberries
1 Tbsp. cream
sugar
Preparation

Combine flours, sugar, baking powder, salt and spices.
Add butter, cut in with pastry blender until coarsely mixed.
Make a well.
Add cream, milk and lemon zest.
Stir.
Add cranberries; stir until dough coheres.
Shape into ball.
Place in center of greased baking sheet.
Pat into a 9-inch disk.
Score deeply into 8 wedges.
Brush top with 1 tablespoon of cream and sprinkle with sugar.
Bake at 425\u00b0 for 25 minutes.
Cut apart at score marks and serve hot.
