Kosher Dill Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 qt. vinegar
    2 qt. water
    3/4 c. salt
    1/2 tsp. peppercorns (or 1 red hot pepper)
    1 clove garlic
    2 tsp. dill seed (or 2 heads fresh dill)
    1 Tbsp. mixed pickling spice
    1 tsp. mustard seed
Preparation
    For brine, bring first 3 ingredients to boil.
    In cold water, wash about 30 (4-inch) pickling cucumbers.
    Pack in quart jars. Add spices to each quart jar.
    Pour hot brine over cucumbers to within 1/2-inch of top.
    Immediately adjust covers.
    Process 20 minutes in boiling water bath.
    Makes about 6 quarts.
